Lagos, Portugal - weather forecast
Keep your fingers crossed it's still there on 7 September! :)  Don't forget - bring your swimming cossies! Ok, yes, we admit it, you may not want to ruin your wedding-ready-hair or soak that shiny new suit but there are glorious swimming pools available - along with a fab beach and the ocean at the reception - should you want to mark the day with a dip.
Swimming in the Algarve is a fantastic experience - shelves are sandy and the sea is very clean although temperatures can be parkier than those you may be used to in the central Mediterranean. Do bear in mind, however, that currents can sometimes be strong. Even if you are an experienced open water swimmer, please check the flags and tell someone if you're off for a plunge. Swell can get big on occasion, too, particularly towards and along the glorious western coast. It's not for nothing that THIS happened in Portugal! (How on EARTH did he make it out of that wave btw?! Alright, alright geography sticklers, this was quite a way up the coast but still! On the plus side, smaller waves make for brilliant bodysurfing conditions AND they're guaranteed to clear out any hangover. X Hello y'all!
Only 22 days, 5 hours, 37 minutes and 17 seconds left to go! All is going swimmingly and preparations are continuing apace. Hope you're all as excited as we are. Thought it might be a good idea to post some more directions for those of you who are driving to the wedding venue at Quinta da Matina. It's an easy journey and shouldn't take longer than 10-15 mins from the centre of Lagos - here's a map. From the wedding venue to the reception at Duna Beach is about another 10 minutes. Here's another map. Later on in the evening, taxis will be available to ferry you home - for those that require them. Lagos town is just a short hop and a skip around the marina from Duna. That map here. Also, here's some written directions for getting to Quinta da Matina. Please don't hesitate to ring or email us at any time if you have any problems with directions or anything else. For those of you in the UK, hope you enjoyed a sunny Bank Holiday weekend. We're off to Portugal next weekend to do some final reconnaissance and a little donkey work ahead of September's shindig.
